Life or something like it
I can't quite get over the fact that my sister-in-law is going back to the UK in two months time. She was born here, and raised in the UK, married there, brought husband back here, had kid here, and now they are all packing up and going back there. The husband was having a hard time adjusting to life here, and personally I don't think he put enough effort into forwarding his career here, but his story is that his job prospects are better in England (BAH!). Anyway, so he is taking wife and kiddie back to England. Now don't get me wrong, England is great for some things. But SA is just SO great for raising kids, great weather, good schools, out doorsy lifestyle, close to nature, culturally diverse, and comparitively cheap to live in. We're basically a fun lovin' bunch, and unless you have enough money to go and live on some nice country estate in the UK, I couldn't imagine living in a city there. Sure it has it's pros and cons, but I am just really upset that my sis-in-law who has become a good friend is going to be so far away. Since I married her brother, we've found so much in common, including an obsessive need to scrapbook and spend huge amounts of money on scrapbooking. Needless to say the hubby is sad to lose his sister back to the UK (he also grew up there and decided to come back here - and we will NEVER live there), and of course, his parents are devastated that their first and only grandson is going to live in 'dinghy dark cold England' which they've left several times over to come back here!!
